RENEWABLES FAQS

In the daytime, the solar panel creates power from the sun and this power is stored in the battery. The lighting controller (the brains of the system) detects dusk and automatically turns the light on; conversely, it detects dawn and turns the light off. At night, the stored energy from the sun-charged battery powers the LED lights.

Solar street lights are energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective in the long run. They reduce electricity bills and your carbon footprint, they require minimal maintenance, and operate independently of the grid.

Yes, solar street lights can still work on cloudy days. GPS Facilities products will last a whole 3 days with zero sunlight (from full charge). Solar lights still charge when it’s cloudy. GPS Facilities also offer a Solar Hybrid option to ensure constant lighting requirements in critical locations.

While tall buildings can cast shadows, proper positioning of solar panels and strategically placing the lights can still make solar street lights effective in urban areas. Additionally, using high-efficiency panels and larger battery storage can compensate for reduced sunlight exposure. GPS also offers a Solar Hybrid option to ensure constant lighting requirements in critical locations.

The lifespan of solar street lights can vary, but on average, the LED lights can last up to 50,000 hours, and the batteries may only need replacement every 5 to 10 years depending on lighting configuration.

The solar panel should be kept clean and a visual inspection should be done every 6 to 12 months, and ensure water is not pooling inside the pole.

It would be ideal to place the solar panel in direct sunlight and away from any kind of shade. If possible, the solar panel should be placed away from overhanging trees and other hindrances. Charge the lamp for a minimum of 10-12 hours initially for best results and keep the solar panel away from other artificial lights, as the sensor may not be able to differentiate day from dusk to night.

The battery capacity is 14.8V with a 35 to 75 watt solar panel.

The capacity of our solar light batteries varies by product, from 153.92 WH (watt hours, approx 6.5 days) to 692.64WH (Gleam GPS-912, Vivid GPS-310M, Vivid Hybrid GPS-310AC), which is equivalent to 28 days

In LEDs, brightness is measured in lumens. The higher the lumens, the brighter the light is. Our light brightness ranges by product, from 3,000 lumens to 14,000 lumens (Gleam GPS-912). Equivalent to between 190lm/W to 230 lm/W.

They are low maintenance, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, more efficient and can be relocated and installed easily.
